This week our comprehension skill will be to learn about the author’s purpose for writing a text.  We will review persuasive, informational, and entertaining (narrative) writing. The acronym PIE helps the students remember the different types of writing/text.  In grammar, we will be working on learning about the subject and predicate of a sentence. Our spelling pattern is learning the rules when suffixes are added to words.

Early this week, we will have a big division review and then take our division assessment. Then we will begin learning about geometry by studying the different shape names and attributes.  We will be focusing on quadrilaterals in third grade.

Please continue to practice the multiplication facts at home!  Starting this week we will be doing multiplication and division fact families (similar to how we did addition and subtraction fact families) for our weekly tests.
