Essential Skills for Chapters 1 and 2:

At the end of chapters one and two your child should be able to:

*write (standard form, expanded form, and word form), say, and draw pictures of numbers from 0-999

*identify if a number is even or odd

*starting at any number from 0-999 count forwards and backwards by 1, 10, 100

*determine which number is greater than or less than (use <,>,=)

Although we covered additional material, the above skills are the most important concepts in the chapter.  If your child had difficulty with any of these skills any extra practice would be helpful.  Practice can be as simple as looking for a number while you are driving and then counting by tens starting at that number.  You could also look for 5 even numbers or 5 odd numbers. If you need ideas on how to practice any of these concepts please contact me!

In your child's Think Central math account there are 2 activities that you can do at home for extra practice.  The kids have time to do these activities most days at school, but they are fun extra practice if you notice that your child is struggling with a particular lesson.

The Curious George activities are guided lessons and practice.  The Mega Math activities are activities that apply the skills.
