    Greater Latrobe Hockey Club's Annual Senior Night will be held on Monday, January 22 prior to the 7:15 pmgame against the Hempfield Spartans at the Kirk S. Nevin Arena in Greensburg, PA.  This year's graduating senior hockey players that will be recognized are:   Alex Avolio, Jake Burkhardt, Moose Clarke-Deaver, Jason DeFelice, Paxton Knupp, Zach Kubitz, Brantley Miller, Blake Rossi and J.T. Schimizzi. Come out and support the team.

    C1: Are you curious about pursuing a career in healthcare? Join us on January 31st from 6 to 8 pm in the CSC for an evening with healthcare professionals from the region as they discuss possible career options in healthcare. Panelists will include practitioners from the following careers: Medicine, Nursing, Health Information Management and Analytics, and Respiratory Care. Learn about the education and training needed to get the job, as well as the possible career paths in each field! To reserve your spot at the panel, please see Mr. Princeton in the 11/12 office. Students in grades 9 through 12 are welcome to attend. 
    C3: The Women's Choir and Men's Ensemble have started rehearsals.  This is a wonderful after-school opportunity for any and all students, whether or not you're currently in choir, to sing with these fantastic groups.  Women's Choir will rehearse Mondays and Wednesday from 2:35 to 3:05 pm, and Men's Ensemble will rehearse Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:35  to 3:05 pm.  Both groups end in time for students to take the Junior High buses home.  For more information, please stop by the Choir Room or just start coming to rehearsal!  
    The yearbook staff is in need of candid pictures for the yearbook.  We need candids of all grades.  If you want to be in the yearbook please submit your candid photos to Mrs. Butler by emailing them to her by the end of the day.
    C1: The Latrobe Hospital Aid Society has volunteer opportunities at Latrobe Hospital and Excela Square at Latrobe. With the new facility opening near the school, there are many ways students can volunteer. The Aid Society awards scholarships to seniors for volunteer services at the hospital.  There is a minimum of 150 hours in order to qualify for the scholarship. Juniors, now is the time to start to accumulate hours to be eligible as a senior. Please stop by the 11/12 Student waiting area for more information.
     Want a chance to use your creative and design skills to win a 30,000 dollar scholarship, along with a 50,000 dollar education technology package for our school?  If so, then you should participate in Google's "Doodle for Google" competition.  The theme this year is "What Inspires Me." Students are to transform the typical Google Logo into a work that represents their ideas about inspiration using the materials of their choosing. Interested students who would like to participate in this contest are asked to come see Mrs. Page or send her an email by January 19th.  Mrs. Page will gladly open her studio rooms and supplies to any interested students who would like to participate.  
    C1: Any student who has Online Health 2 During Semester 2 MUST report to C-106 today during their regularly scheduled study hall to get set up and any information about the course.  Please bring a charged device so that you may log onto the network.  If you do not have a study hall you have the option to stop during your lunch, or contact your scheduled teacher to get set up prior to the end of the day.  
    C1: Attention juniors: An informational meeting concerning the Allied Health Internship Program scheduling option will be held Friday, January 26, during period 1 in the Library Classroom. The Allied Health Internship class is a course offering available to students at the senior level.  This course is taught in cooperation with EXCELA at Latrobe Area Hospital.  Students will study medical terminology, infection control, first aid, CPR, confidentiality, legal issues and anatomy and physiology.  Clinical experience involves radiology, pharmacy, physical therapy, emergency services, chiropractic, nursing, dentistry, surgery, social services, oncology and cardiovascular services. The class instructor, Mrs. McCreery, will address the group and answer questions.  Applications will be available following the presentation. Students interested in attending the presentation should sign up in the 11/12 office by Wednesday, January 24.
    The Greater Latrobe Choral Department invites you to be part of the choirs!  Concert Choir is open to all students, no audition necessary!  Just schedule Concert Choir when you meet with your guidance counselor!  Whether or not you've been part of a choir before, there is a place for you in Concert Choir!  Want something a little more challenging?  Auditions for Chamber Choir will be held on Friday, February 2nd and Friday, February 9th after school.  Chamber Choir is filling spots for all voice parts: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass.  Audition materials can be picked up in the Choir Room.  Both Concert Choir and Chamber Choir will be traveling next Spring and the destination will be revealed in April 2018!  We look forward to singing with you!
    Attention Juniors and  Seniors: The Pittsburgh National College fair will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on Thursday, February 8th from 9 AM to 12 PM then that evening from 6:30 to 9 and Friday, February 9th from 9 AM to 12 PM. Be sure to pick up a yellow college visit form in the 11/12 office if you plan on attending.
