Greater Latrobe Senior High School Capstone students were able to attend "Lowber Field Day" on Sewickley Creek. Two groups of students rotated through 9 stations, ranging from water quality testing, bird house building, recycling activities, wetlands exploration, and more. Thanks to Sewickley Creek Watershed Association for putting on a wonderful event to start the school year!

The Homecoming Court presentation will take place during halftime of the Wildcat Football game on Friday, October 2nd. The game begins at 7:00 pm as the Wildcats take on Fox Chapel at Latrobe Memorial Stadium. Prior to the game, there will be a Homecoming parade at 5:45 pm. After the game, the Wildcat Marching Band will perform their halftime show on the field. 🧡🖤

Greater Latrobe Senior High School's Fellowship of Christian Athletes club (FCA) hosted a "See You at the Pole" event on Wednesday, September 23 in front of the Senior High School. See You at the Pole™ is an annual global day of prayer where students, teachers and community members meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation.

Greater Latrobe Senior Julia Zhu has been named a Commended Student in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2027 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Greater Latrobe Senior High School hosted their annual Club Fair today for students in grades 9-12. Students had the opportunity to join over 20 clubs offered at the high school. Extracurricular involvement helps students develop important communication, collaboration, and creative thinking skills while helping others in their school and community.

The Class of 2027 recently kicked off its final year of high school with the sixth annual Senior Sunrise on Graham-Sobota Field. Sponsored by Student Council, the early morning event brought the senior class together with blankets and homemade photo frames to watch the dawn of their graduation year. More than just a photo opportunity and a time to eat doughnuts, the event served as a perfect moment for seniors to bond and look forward to their milestone events ahead. The perfect sky offered a symbolic start to what promises to be an unforgettable year for the Class of 2027. 🌅

Congratulations to Elijah Meeder of Greater Latrobe High School, the Week 4 Jerome Bettis Leadership Award Winner! 🏆 Elijah exemplifies what it means to lead through service, character, and commitment to others. An Eagle Scout, three-sport athlete, and National Honor Society member, Elijah has dedicated himself to making a positive impact both on and off the field. Known for his positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others succeed, Elijah leads by example in the classroom, in competition, and throughout his community. The Greater Latrobe Partners in Education Foundation awarded over $25,000 to support 28 classroom grants for the 2026-2027 school year. These funds go towards curricular enrichment requests from district faculty and staff, such as equipment, materials, and more.

This includes new hands-on STEM materials at Latrobe Elementary School, such as the Kodo Outdoor Ramps, which enhance the outdoor L.E.A.P. area to allow students to build, manipulate, explore movement, and use creativity with items that they are surrounded by everyday. Inside the school, new engaging STEM building toys allow students to problem solve, collaborate, and have fun!

Hands-on STEM materials allow students to explore basic concepts in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through play-based learning. ⚛

Greater Latrobe Senior High School Link Crew leaders hosted a tailgate for freshmen before the varsity football game this past Friday evening at Memorial Stadium. Students had the opportunity to socialize with one another about the first weeks of school, play yard games, and enjoy hotdogs grilled by Senior High Principal Dr. Benning before heading to the "Wildcat Den" to cheer on the football team and marching band. 🧡🖤

There’s a scheduled early dismissal on Thurs, 9/17. All senior high and junior high students will be dismissed at 10:30am. All elementary students will be dismissed at 11:30am.

Greater Latrobe Junior High students in Mrs. Jordan's art classes recently completed several projects to honor veterans, America's 250th birthday, and the 25th anniversary of 9/11. These projects included a paper chain flag, patriotic zentangles, and the Freedom Wings mural. More than just beautiful pieces of art - they are tributes to our nation's strength, resilience, freedom, and unity.

Mountain View Elementary School kindergarteners were excited to put their greeting and introduction skills into practice these past 2 weeks! Mrs. Teslevich’s students had the wonderful opportunity to meet our School Resource Officers and proudly introduce themselves.  From confident introductions to friendly greetings, our littlest learners showed off their big voices, great manners, and growing confidence! What a fun way to practice important social skills while getting to know someone who helps keep our schools safe! 💙

Baggaley Elementary School sixth graders participated in a 9/11 anniversary digital learning experience through the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The students watched a video provided by the museum, where they heard first hand accounts from survivors and family members affected by the tragic day. After watching together, each student wrote down a question they had, and those questions were answered via a live chat in real time from employees of the museum. They also created a survivor tree outside of their classrooms inspired by the pear tree that survived the 9/11 attacks. Each student decorated a leaf to add to the tree with symbols and words that resonated with them after learning about the survivors’ stories. #NeverForget 🇺🇸

Prior to the start of the Wildcat Varsity Football game at Memorial Stadium this evening, Greater Latrobe was proud to showcase a 30’ x 60’ American flag on the field during the National Anthem in honor of the 25th anniversary of September 11. 🇺🇸 Thank you to the Woodmen Life “Celebrating Red, White, and Blue” program for providing the flag and to the Greater Latrobe Boys Soccer Program for holding the flag during the pre-game ceremony. #NeverForget ❤️🤍💙 🧡🖤
