The  Greater Latrobe School District is hosting a Summer STEMtacular MAKEATHON! The two week program will offer an integrated approach to challenge-based/problem-based  STEM activities. Each grade level will work in teams as the engineering design process is used to create solutions based on the following themes (current grade level):

  • Grade 2- create  animal prosthetics from provided materials
  • Grade 3- create video games using Scratch coding and utilize Makey Makey for controllers
  • Grade 4- create an animated Mini Golf Course using littleBits
  • Grade 5- create a Robot Petting Zoo using the Hummingbird Robotic kits

The STEMtacular MAKEATHON will be held at Latrobe Elementary School, June 15-June 17  and continue June 21-June 24, from 8:30 AM-12:00 PM. At the end of the MAKEATHON, in lieu of a  gallery walk, a video presentation of student-created engineering projects will be shared with families!

The program is FREE, but bus transportation will NOT be provided.

Face coverings must be worn at all times, with breaks provided.

Each grade level will cap at 15 students!
